Write the Vision

Write the Vision and Make it Plain

October 23rd, 2018

Very early on in life I heard this phrase.

"Write the vision, and make it plain."

I was good at the first part. I would write....and write....and write - and it was all rambles. Making it plain? What exactly does that mean?

Knowing what you want is one thing, but getting there is another. Sometimes we don't even know *exactly* what we want. If you aren't sure of what you want, and can't articulate it - then you are unlikely to achieve it. You may eventually stumble your way through, but you will probably save yourself a lot of time and effort if you invest in setting the goals in the first place.

Take some time to think about what you want - what you really want.

But don't stop there.

Now think about achieving that goal - what does it look like? How does it feel? What do you look like? How do others see you?

What is the point of this? Well, having a goal is one thing - but having a vision is another. Having a vision breathes life into our goals. It makes them look, sound, feel real because we have more of a clear idea of exactly what we are aiming for.

Once you have a *real* vision, write it down. You have spent some time on this exercise - make it stick.

Our vision can often get cloudy as time goes on. Sometimes obstacles flair up. Sometimes doubt creeps in. Sometimes opposition will whisper little curiosities that make us question ourselves... By writing your vision you are protecting yourself from all of this - you wrote it at the peak of your vision, after all. It was written with passion and purpose and life - and at a time of defeat that is what you need.

So go on - what do you want? What do you *really* want?

Sometimes it's hard to get those goals going, and even harder to envisage success. If you would like some direction to get started, contact me today or book in for a Goal Setting session.
